History
As the daughter of the NASA director, she in essence one of the top scientists in the mission. Roughly 10 years prior to the launch of Endurance, she and a fellow scientist Dr. Wolf Edmunds had fallen in love. Cooper suspected her feelings towards Edmunds when discussing the destinations they were heading, knowing that her affection towards Wolf would make her biased to his planet. When the time came to choose between either Dr. Mann's planet or Edmunds planet, Brand lobbied for Edmunds due to its more promising surface data. Cooper revealed that she was in love with Wolf, which Brand admitted, explaining that her love towards Edmunds still draws her to him and his planet, even when he likely perished long ago.
After a successful gravitational slingshot from Gargantua, she lands on Edmunds planet with CASE and discovers that Wolf Edmunds had perished around 77 years prior. She remains on the planet to set up camp and execute Plan B.
